Ins and Outs of Google

The internet was down on Monday, January 9th, 2010. This blog is for Monday.

I woke up this morning at home with the pressure of packing and making back to Graceland University in time for class.  I quickly threw some things together and jumped in my Cutlass.  I headed back to campus with the intention of getting to campus in time to run to class, little did I know that class was at 9 instead of 8.  I had an hour to waste and not much stuff to take to my dorm room.  Within 2 trips I had all my stuff back into my room and had nothing to do by 8:10, so... I took a nap.  Waking up at 8:50, I grabbed my bag and took off for class.  I walked in not really knowing what I was getting myself into.  I'm decent with electronics, but I had never really messed with Google.  With the class named 'Google and Beyond' there was obviously some connection.  The use of Google, by far, outweighs the use of Bing, Ask or any other search engine as far as I am concerned now. In class we created g-mail accounts and began playing with some of the tools.  The most impressive thing is that Google's document writing tool.  I don't have word on my laptop or desktop and with everything saved online, you're allowed to work on documents on any computer that has internet access.  Along with that, I didn't know that Google does power point and excel files as well.  Class today was a pretty big success.  Google allows me to do write papers and do presentations without the cost of Microsoft Office. Not only can I get my papers done more easily, but I'm saving money in the process, who wouldn't love that?
